The place where Osaka-originating Asahi Shimbun set up its Tokyo branch aptly named Tokyo Asahi Shimbun in 1888. Its employee and renowned poet, Takuboku Ishikawa, worked here, as well as Natsume Soseki who had a regular newspaper novel column.
